Transform, a insecticide product by Dow, that we in the county rely on pretty heavily, has had its registration canceled by the EPA. This cancellation was the result of a lawsuit by the Pollinator Stewardship Council and other bee advocacy groups. While this has been provoked by bee keepers and the like, that is not to say that we should harbor ill feelings toward many of the bee keepers we know in our surrounding community. Most of those beekeepers are actually on our side of the conversation.
As many of you know, Transform has essentially become our best option (and in some areas, only option) for battling Tarnished Plant Bugs in Cotton. It has also been relied on very heavily for Sugarcane Aphid control in Grain Sorghum. Fortunately, in Grain Sorghum, we still have EPA registration on Sivanto by Bayer CropScience.
